🕊️ God's Covenant with Abram 🕊️

A Complete Soul-Winning Bible Study from Genesis 15

💖 Why This Message Can Change Your Life

Dear friend, what you're about to read isn't just history - it's God's personal invitation to you. Through Abram's story, God wants to show you how much He loves you and how you can have a real relationship with Him. This isn't about religion - it's about LIFE!

📖 Setting the Scene: Who Was Abram?

Abram lived about 4,000 years ago in a place called Ur (modern-day Iraq). He was wealthy but had one big problem - no children. In his culture, having no heir meant your family name would die out completely. Imagine being 75+ years old with no kids, and your wife Sarah was also past childbearing age.

But here's the beautiful part: God chose this "impossible" situation to show His power!

🌟 Part 1: When Fear Meets Faith (Genesis 15:1-6)

Abram's Honest Struggles

After God had already promised Abram many descendants, Abram was still worried. He said to God, "Lord, what will You give me since I remain childless? My servant Eliezer will inherit everything!"

Here's what's beautiful: Abram didn't pretend to be super spiritual. He brought his real fears to God. Friend, God wants your honest prayers, not perfect words!

God's Amazing Response

God didn't get angry with Abram's doubts. Instead, He took him outside and said, "Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them. So shall your offspring be." (Genesis 15:5)

"Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness." - Genesis 15:6

💡 What This Means for You Today

You don't need perfect faith - just honest faith! Abram had questions and fears, but he chose to believe God anyway. Right now, God is looking at your heart. Do you believe He can handle your "impossible" situation?

Notice: God didn't make Abram righteous because he was good enough. Abraham was made right with God simply because he believed!

🔥 Part 2: The Blood Covenant - God's Unbreakable Promise (Genesis 15:7-21)

Understanding Ancient Covenants

In Abram's time, when two people made a serious agreement (covenant), they would:

  • Kill animals and cut them in half
  • Lay the pieces opposite each other, creating a bloody pathway
  • Both parties would walk between the pieces together
  • This meant: "If I break this promise, may I be killed like these animals"

But watch what God did differently...

The Supernatural Sleep

As the sun was setting, God caused Abram to fall into a deep sleep. Then something amazing happened: a smoking firepot with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces.

This firepot and torch represented God Himself. But notice - Abram never walked through the pieces. Only God did!

🎯 The Life-Changing Truth

God made this covenant depend entirely on Himself! He was saying: "Abram, this promise doesn't depend on your goodness, your strength, or your ability to keep your word. It depends only on ME, and I cannot fail!"

Friend, this is exactly how God saves us today. Your salvation doesn't depend on your performance - it depends on Jesus!

📊 God's Specific Promises to Abram

Immediate: "Your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own" (Egypt)
400 years later: "They will be enslaved and mistreated" (slavery in Egypt)
After 400 years: "I will punish the nation they serve as slaves" (the plagues on Egypt)
The exodus: "Afterward they will come out with great possessions" (leaving Egypt with wealth)
The return: "In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here" (conquering Canaan)
For Abram personally: "You will go to your ancestors in peace and be buried at a good old age"

Amazing fact: Every single one of these promises came true exactly as God said! This proves that when God makes a promise, He keeps it - no matter how impossible it seems!

✝️ How This Points to Jesus Christ

The blood covenant in Genesis 15 is a beautiful picture of what Jesus would do for us thousands of years later. Just as God alone walked through the bloody pieces for Abram, Jesus alone walked the path of suffering and death for us.

📚 New Testament Connections:

Romans 4:16 - "Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring"

Galatians 3:29 - "If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise"

Hebrews 9:22 - "Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness"

🏃‍♂️ Practical Life Applications

1. When You Face "Impossible" Situations

Abram was too old, Sarah was barren, but God specializes in impossible situations! What looks impossible to you right now? Remember: the same God who gave Abram a child at 100 years old is still working miracles today.

2. When You Doubt God's Promises

It's okay to have questions - even Abram asked "How can I know?" But don't let questions stop you from believing. Faith isn't the absence of questions; it's trusting God despite the questions.

3. When You Try to "Help" God

Later, Abram tried to fulfill God's promise through his servant Hagar (Genesis 16), creating problems that lasted for centuries. The lesson? Let God do things His way, in His timing.

4. When You Feel Unworthy

Abram wasn't perfect. He lied about Sarah being his sister (twice!), he doubted God's promises, he made mistakes. But God still called him righteous because of his faith. God's love for you isn't based on your perfection!

🤔 Questions for Personal Reflection

  1. What "impossible" situation in your life do you need to trust God with?
  2. Are you trying to earn God's love through good works, or are you trusting in His grace?
  3. How does knowing that God alone "walked through the pieces" change your understanding of salvation?
  4. What promises of God do you struggle to believe? Why?
  5. How can you show the same kind of faith that Abram showed?
  6. In what areas of your life are you trying to "help" God instead of waiting on His timing?

What impossible thing is God asking you to believe Him for today?

Breaking Free from Religious Bondage: Seek the True Light

Breaking Free from Religious Bondage: Seek the True Light Breaking Free from Religious Bondage: Seek the True Light Many today believe they are worshipping God, yet they are trapped in religious slavery, because they follow human traditions, false teachings, and leaders who mislead them. Instead of seeking God's truth, they are bound by the opinions of men and doctrines that have no basis in the Bible. Some say, "The church is in the heart," yet their actions show no fear of God. Others replace obedience to God’s laws with emotional Christianity, believing that good intentions are enough while ignoring His commandments. This is the same deception that led Israel astray in the past. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears. - 2 Timothy 4:3 (KJV) The Rise ...

About the Sabbath: A Biblical Perspective

God's Sabbath Day Remains Unchanged: A Biblical Perspective Published on | The Eternal Truths Church Of God seventh-day Introduction: The True Sabbath in Scripture In a world of diverse religious practices and interpretations, one truth remains constant: God's commandments were given for a purpose and are eternal. Among these is the fourth commandment regarding the Sabbath day, which calls us to "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy" (Exodus 20:8). Today, we'll examine what Scripture truly teaches about the Sabbath, address common misconceptions about Sunday worship, and call for a return to biblical truth similar to King Josiah's reforms. "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do n...
