1. What is Happening in Israel?
Brothers and sisters, the conflict in Israel is not new, but a sign that we are drawing closer to the end of the age. There is chaos, destruction, and death. The Bible warns us: "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come" (Matthew 24:6).
Let us not be distracted by the worldly turmoil, but instead focus on our Lord and Savior, for He alone can give us peace in these troubled times.
2. Why is There a War in Israel?
This war, my dear brethren, is a battle over both physical land and spiritual inheritance. Just as it was in the days of Abraham, when Sarah and Hagar contended, so it is now with the children of Isaac and Ishmael. The scripture says: "Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son of the free woman" (Galatians 4:30).
What we see today is the fulfillment of centuries-old struggles for dominance, but know this: the Lord's plans are sovereign, and His purposes will prevail.
3. The Biblical Roots of the Conflict
The story of Isaac and Ishmael lies at the heart of the conflict in Israel. We must understand that God made a covenant with Isaac, not with Ishmael, saying: "My covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you" (Genesis 17:21). This is not just a historical conflict but a spiritual one, with eternal consequences.
The division we see today between Jews and Muslims is rooted in these ancient promises, and it is vital for us to see the spiritual warfare at play.
4. Jacob’s Purchase of the Land
Brethren, we must remember that God’s promises to the descendants of Jacob are eternal. The Bible records that Jacob purchased land in Shechem, and this transaction is critical to understanding the Israelites’ deep connection to the land. "He bought the piece of land where he had pitched his tent from the sons of Ham or, Shechem's father, for a hundred pieces of silver" (Genesis 33:19). This signifies that the land belongs to the descendants of Jacob by divine right, according to God's covenant with Abraham and Isaac.
5. What Should Christians Do?
In these times of global conflict and uncertainty, we must not only watch the news but actively engage in spiritual warfare through prayer and righteous living. As the apostle Paul instructs: "Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people" (Ephesians 6:18). Here are practical steps Christians should take:
These wars and conflicts serve as reminders that God’s judgment is near. Let us be watchful, sober, and prayerful, as we see these signs unfold before our very eyes.
Now, more than ever, the time has come for Christians to repent. Turn from your sinful ways, for the Lord is merciful and patient, "not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).
Do not delay, for the signs of His coming are clear. Repent and prepare your heart to meet the Lord. "For He will come like a thief in the night" (1 Thessalonians 5:2).
7. How Christians Should Respond
- Pray: Pray for the peace of Israel (Psalm 122:6) and for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
- Watch and Prepare: Be spiritually prepared, for Jesus warned us of the coming tribulations (Matthew 24:6).
- Strengthen Your Faith: Stay strong in the Lord, trusting that God’s word will come to pass.
- Repent and Turn from Sin: Self-examination is vital. Turn away from sin and seek God’s forgiveness, for the time is short.
- Be a Witness: Share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others, leading them to salvation in Christ.
