The Imminent Return of Christ:Preparing for the day of the Lord's return

The Imminent Return of Christ

A Prophetic Warning

Brothers and sisters, listen closely. In the book of Daniel, we read about a prophetic vision of a great statue, and a stone cut out without hands that struck the statue and filled the whole earth. This vision is a powerful reminder of the imminent return of Jesus Christ and the establishment of His kingdom.

"You watched while a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces." - Daniel 2:34

My dear friends, this prophecy is not just a story from the past; it is a message for us today. It tells us that the kingdoms of this world, with all their power and glory, will be shattered by the coming kingdom of God. The stone, representing Christ, will crush all human empires and establish His eternal reign. This should wake us up from our slumber and make us ready for His return.

The Fearful Reality of the Lord's Return

Make no mistake, the coming of Christ will be a day of reckoning and judgment. The Bible describes it in terms that should instill a holy fear in our hearts, urging us to repentance:

  • Matthew 24:30: "Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory."
  • 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9: "When the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power."
  • Revelation 6:15-17: "And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, and said to the mountains and rocks, 'Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?'"

Think about these words, my friends. The mighty and powerful of this world will tremble in fear and seek to hide from the wrath of the Lamb. This is a solemn warning to us all. We cannot escape God's judgment by our own means. Only through Jesus Christ can we find refuge and salvation.

Call to Repentance

Now is the time to act, my dear brothers and sisters. The impending return of Christ demands a response from each of us. The time to repent is now, before the day of judgment arrives:

"Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord." - Acts 3:19

Repentance is not just a one-time act. It is a continuous turning away from sin and turning toward God. We must examine our hearts daily and seek His forgiveness. True repentance brings about a transformation in our lives, changing our thoughts, words, and actions to align with God's will.

Live in Readiness

As we await the return of our Lord, we are called to live lives of holiness and obedience, preparing ourselves and others for His coming. Here are some ways we can live in readiness:

  • Watch and pray (Matthew 24:42): Be vigilant in prayer, always seeking God's guidance and strength.
  • Live righteously and godly (Titus 2:11-13): Strive to live according to God's standards, rejecting worldly desires.
  • Proclaim the gospel to all nations (Matthew 28:19-20): Share the good news of Jesus Christ with others, fulfilling the Great Commission.
  • Encourage one another in the faith (Hebrews 10:24-25): Support and build up fellow believers, fostering a community of faith and love.

Brothers and sisters, let us not be found unprepared on that great and terrible day. Let us turn from our sins and seek the Lord with all our hearts, that we may be counted worthy to stand before Him when He returns.

Conclusion

The return of Christ is imminent, and the signs are all around us. The stone cut out without hands will soon strike, and the kingdoms of this world will be replaced by the everlasting kingdom of our Lord. Let us heed the warnings of Scripture and prepare our hearts for His coming, that we may not be ashamed at His appearing. My dear friends, this is the time to act. Let us repent, live righteously, and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. May God bless you and keep you in His grace.

Remember, the time is short. Let us live each day as if it is our last, honoring God in all we do and say. Amen.

Breaking Free from Religious Bondage: Seek the True Light

Breaking Free from Religious Bondage: Seek the True Light Breaking Free from Religious Bondage: Seek the True Light Many today believe they are worshipping God, yet they are trapped in religious slavery, because they follow human traditions, false teachings, and leaders who mislead them. Instead of seeking God's truth, they are bound by the opinions of men and doctrines that have no basis in the Bible. Some say, "The church is in the heart," yet their actions show no fear of God. Others replace obedience to God’s laws with emotional Christianity, believing that good intentions are enough while ignoring His commandments. This is the same deception that led Israel astray in the past. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears. - 2 Timothy 4:3 (KJV) The Rise ...

About the Sabbath: A Biblical Perspective

God's Sabbath Day Remains Unchanged: A Biblical Perspective Published on | The Eternal Truths Church Of God seventh-day Introduction: The True Sabbath in Scripture In a world of diverse religious practices and interpretations, one truth remains constant: God's commandments were given for a purpose and are eternal. Among these is the fourth commandment regarding the Sabbath day, which calls us to "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy" (Exodus 20:8). Today, we'll examine what Scripture truly teaches about the Sabbath, address common misconceptions about Sunday worship, and call for a return to biblical truth similar to King Josiah's reforms. "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do n...
